I currently have 28 teeth...is it normal to grow 4 extra 'wisdom' teeth?

The wisdom teeth or 3rd molars are the last teeth to erupt, usually anywhere from 17-25 years of age.
Some patients have one, two or occasionally three or even all are missing. So it's not unusual for some people to not have a few of them develop at all.
A definite way of knowing is to ask your dentist; he should have a current pano on hand which will show the buds in the formation stage, impacted or fully developed and he can give you an idea of when to expect them to erupt or if you need them removed.

We are gradually evolving out of growing wisdom teeth, however, the fact that you have no room for these teeth to erupt into your mouth really has no bearing on whether or not you will develop them. Your dentist should be taking a panorex x-ray to see how these teeth are lying - many people have them growing horizontally rather than vertically. Once your dentist sees how they are developing (or even if they are developing) he/she will make a recommendation regarding whether or not they should be removed. There are different reasons for removal, the most common being that there isn't enough room for them to grow into the mouth and that they begin to impinge (push against) your last molar and damage it's integrity.

you need to have a check up at the dentist and they will tell you if theres any more teeth to come but i think youve got them all now
