Answers:
1. A bite plate prevents you from biting down all the way. If you did not have a bite plate, when you bite down, your top teeth would knock of your bottom braces, which isn't a good thing.
2. It will cause you to have a lisp for approximately the first 24 hours. You will have a little trouble eating and chewing, but you will get used to having something in your mouth all the time.
1. I found a site that shows a step by step process on how they put on braces, and it includes pictures. But every ortho dontist is different, so the procedure may be different. I know mine wasn't done quite like this, but it gives you the idea - http://www.braceface.com/gettingbraces.h...
2. My favorite colors are red and blue. You can also try pink and black, teal and black, etc.
3. I couldn't tell you how much it hurts, because it depends on the person's teeth. If your teeth are severely crooked, you should expect quite a bit of soreness. If your teeth on too bad, then the soreness won't be that terrible either. Take Ibuprofen or Tyenol 30 minutes before your appointment to get them on.
I suggest the night before that you go to the grocery store and buy soft foods. Thigns like soup, rice, pudding, ravioli, applesauce, etc. It'll even be a challenge to chew bread, o stick to extremely soft foods.
for the rubber bands on the braces u should get hot pink, or blue. both very pretty.
it didn't hurt me very much when they put them on but everyone is different i guess. a 3 at the most. take advil, it helps.
DO NOT eat celery or popcorn. bad idea...trust me.
hope this helps!
I don't know about the bite plate but I do know some info about the braces. I used to wear them. I wore them for four years and a little over but now I am wearing a retainer.
They cement the brackets to your teeth.
You can get any color you like!!
It hurt for me but don't freak out! It was only because I had to wear Headgear to straighten my jaw and push it backward. It only hurt because they had to put these little rings on the backs of my upper teeth and when they were fitting different ones, I got really, really sore and I wanted to cry.
When you get your braces on they will also tighten the wire that straightens you teeth every visit to the Orthodontist and that may cause a little soreness though. I hope this really helps you and don't be scared although when getting them on, it may take a couple of hours... but you should be okay! :D
They should also give you instructions on what to eat and what not to eat.
Where can you buy pro namel, or any toothpaste to protect from acid erosion?
i honestly dont know anything about bite plates but io can tell you everything about braces seeing as i have them.
1. to put on braces they first out a big red thing in your mouth to keep your lips opened (doesnt hurt at all...just uncomfortable)...then they out the "rings" in your molars (if you havent already gotten them from a previous appointment)...then they put special dentist glue on your teeth and then they put the brackets on (they will put glassses on you to protect your eyes from this purplle/bluish light that dries the glue to the bracjets)...they have a saliva cleaner in your mouth the whole time, by the way.then they attach a wire to the rings on your molars and put it in place with the brackets (they attach them to the brackets..next youre done.now you deal with putting on the colored rubber band
2. any color you want looks great...try to get the color of something you wear a lot..and dont get white or clear because they get very dirty...and try not to mix a flashy color like yellow with red because it looks too flashy
3. it sooo does not hurt to get braces i promise. its only uncomfortable.weird comparison...getting them is like having a wedgie - it doesnt hurt but its uncomfortable - only when you get them.after that it will only ache a little because your teeth will feel tight so maybe take aspirin. (getting braces 0/10)...after braces for 3 to 5 days 3/10
----ask your dentist for a special toothbrush because its a bit hard to keep clean teeth with braces...specially to floss.but with the special brush its really easy...
godd luck
