I have a wisdom tooth infection, I was prescribed Penicillin 500mg. The swelling and the pain are increasing.
I went to the dentist today because my wisdom tooth was hurting for 2 days. After taking the prescribed antibiotic 'Penicillin 500mg' I felt some improvement within an hour but at the moment, hours later, the swelling and the pain are getting worse, I feel a sore throat on the right side and pain in the ear along with pain and swelling in the entire right-back side of my jaw. I have an extraction scheduled in 2 days but I am concerned after reading online about my thoart shutting and suffocating me to death. No, I am not a hypochondriac. Should I be overly concerned? I can not afford to end up in a hospital, I'm a waiter, I don't have health insurance. I already have to pay close to U$1000 for the dental treatment out of my pocket. Benefactors are welcome.

I m sorry it is hurting you but the penicillin isn't for pain it is just for the infection ,so you need to take some over the counter medication for the swelling and soreness,sore throat.
you Throat is sore due to the glad their at your tooth that is causing pressure most likely course I'm not a DR !
Hopefully if you go right now and take some pain med you will feel better soon and cont to take them every 3-4 hrs as the pain will keep coming back unless you do.
However if you have to have your tooth extracted in 2 days don't take any pain meds containing aspirin as this may cause you too bleed alot the day of your surgery!
Like Ibuprofen or Aspirin or aspirin based!
I thinly Tylenol or Al eve should be OK just read the bottle directions to see what it contains !

use a lot of listerine evey hour and clean and clean sounds like you need more penicillin. call the dentists and get some advice. more penicillin is my guess. beeen dealing with that.

My husband had pain like yours for 2 days. It turned out that he had an infection from the corrosion in his tooth from a filling. He also had pain along his jaw line and his face started to swell up. You should get it checked again to see if your dentist needs to clean your tooth out again. Otherwise, get it removed if you can, but talk to your dentist. Also, see if you can get on Amoxicillan, that might help.
