Can I have a temporary crown placed on a tooth that has had a root canal without having the core build up/post

Can I have a temporary crown placed on a tooth that has had a root canal without having the core build up/post put in.

This was my initial question:- http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

Which dental floss is better: waxed or unwaxed?

Answers:
After a root canal, the tooth can get brittle. A core buildup or post & core adds strength to the tooth... guess I should have elaborated on this when I answered your initial question...

If you put a temporary crown on a tooth that does not have any of the above to strengthen it, chances are the tooth will fracture at the gumline. In that case, either it will then need a crown-lengthening or it may need to be extracted. After your hard-earned money was spent on root canal treatment to save the tooth, I'd hate to see it went to waste if the tooth needs to be removed.
