Answers:
There is a remote possibility of developing a dry socket, but its highly unlikely. You would have to eat something that was sharp like a tortilla chip that would jab the socket area, causing the clot to dislodge. Just continue with a soft diet for a few days then slowly add your normal foods back in avoiding sharp, crunchy or grainy foods that can cause trauma or get stuck in the openings easily.

By the second day, which is where you are now, you can start to gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Be sure to do this several times a day, especially after you eat anything. Doing this will remove any food particles that get stuck in the openings. It is important to keep your teeth and the extraction sites clean to promote good healing. Don't worry so much about having a dry socket, (it scares everyone and rarely happens) if you follow your post op instructions you will do just fine. I hope I've been of some help and good luck with your healing, follow all instruction given by your dentist or OS.
Yes you could, so just be careful. Stick to soft foods that don't have small pieces, if that makes sense. And don't drink thru a straw, spit or rinse your mouth hard. That could cause dry socket too. As the days go on, you're less likely to get dry socket, so just be careful for a couple of days.
yes you can. if you smoke you can get dry socket. i had it i had to go back to the dentist and get it packed. so please be real careful. air can give it too. so keep a rag over your mouth if going out side. thanks i hope i helped you in some ways. i hope you feel beter soon.
Small food particles can get in the area, just rinse gently and this should take care of it, dry socket is caused by dislodging the blood clot that forms when a tooth is extracted, you need this blood clot to insure proper healing, its the first step of the healing process. Most people dislodge the clot by smoking or sucking through a straw, eating regular food won't dislodge the clot, stick to a cool soft diet and warm salt water rinses for a few days and you should be fine. Good luck
hasn't your dentist sewed the wholes? Oh, Oh , Oh. --- you need an american lawyer and become a millionaire.
