Answers:
there are 3 kinds of cleanings the first one is the prophylaxis aka polishing of the teeth...it is normally done the same day of your exam ( depending on your dentist and the time set aside ) , usually if there is no other dental concerns or problems.
The other are more intense form of cleanings which are preform usually for peole to have a lot of plaque and tartar or have gum problems...These cleanings include the mouth debridement and the scaling and root planing aka srp a special machine is used with these cleaings. Some people require to have perio maintance every 3 months...once again this all depends on your situation...and not all cleanings can be preformed the same day, due to several reasons such as what the insurance does not cover 2 cleanings the same day , not enough time , or simply they want to check your progress.don't worry a dentist knows best
It is a deep cleaning and it gets a lot of the tartar and plaque off of your teeth.
Debridement is performed to remove plaque, tartar and debris from surfaces. The regular cleaning is the polishing of your teeth.
There are a number of reasons your dentist may want you to come back for your regular cleaning...1. Your gums need some time to "heal" after the debridement. 2. Your insurance my not cover your polish on the same visit as your debridement. 3. Perhaps the debridement was not scheduled into the "cleaning" schedule for the day (?).
cause debridement is to get all the plaque and or calcusus that you have aquired on your teeth off.. than you would be ready for a regular cleaning
