Is in that really a two step treatment process for Orthodontic braces or am I person scammed?

My daughter had an over bite so we took her to an orthodontist.

The orthodontists have braces on her teeth for about 18 months than a retainer for another 6 months. $4,200.
At our appointment today he said she can throw away her retainer, he requirements to start braces again.
He now tell us that because her teeth are not aligned left to right he will own to put braces back on and afterwards a retainer again. This is another $3,800.
Her teeth only have an over bit in the dawn, is this guy screwing us??

Answers:    Get copies of her treatment journal, xrays, study models and photographs taken at the beginning of the treatment and bear them to another orthodontist for a second opinion... and don't forget to bring your daughter next to you.

This sounds strange to me....

:)
The first thing I'd do if I feel like I be getting scammed is to get a second judgment. For a subject like this is not easy to tell you yes or no if the answerer's don't own the experience/education and can't see your kiddo's teeth.

Could what your orthodontist said be true? yes, could it be a lie or at lowest not totally accurate? Yes to that also.

Talk to another orthodontist to get a second feelings and if its true see if he/she will do it cheaper. If not then ask your previous orthodontist for a discount since they put them on and did such a poor living that you have to start over again.

Hope this help. :-)
Did she wear her retainer?

If so she shouldnt need them again it should hold been fixed the first time around, and if they moved beside the retainer the ortho should cover them.
wow,, thats a fu**in rip off,,
