Are teeth implants a form of cosmetic surgery?
Question:
Answers:
Yes, they are considered cosmetic. However, some insurance companies will cover the crown that is needed to go over the implant post. Ask your dental office to verify your coverage. Any coverage is rare but its worth a shot to ask! Also, if you have any coverage, make sure you have the dental office submitt a predetermination to your insurance company. The insurance company requires that they send it. If they fail too, the insurance company can deny the claim for that reason.
My insurance company thinks so. I broke a tooth, eating a corn nut. Yes, a corn nut. It split my tooth right in half & below the gum line. The dentist couldn't save it. The implant costs $2300. The insurance says it is cosmetic. I figure it is one less tooth they have to worry about paying to keep fixed. In all honesty, I can live without the tooth. It is my vanity that wants it replaced. So, I can understand where they are coming from on the cosmetic answer. Best wishes to you. :)
The office that I worked at they were considered cosmetic. No insurance company that we participated with would pay for then at all because they all consider them cosmetic too.
