I have braces for the same reason. I have had them for more than 2 years. They are not as bad as you think. The first day you get them on it feels weird, obviously. The first couple of weeks they are torture and they hurt until you get used to them. They rip your gums and it hurts to bite. I would rate them as a 7 at first, but then a 4 as you adjust to the changes. You will eventually get used to them though. Think of it this way: Many people have or had braces. So unless it was that bad and painful no one would get them!
7 for the first week
but after that you get used to them
buy like a weeks worth of soup
1. about a 3
2. you will forget they are even there
First day, braces are a 9. After that the pain decreases gradually. Do not worry, you will get used to them, they are good for you and when you have perfect teeth they will be worth it.
I'd rate it a 4 at first, but once your teeth move to the right spot the wires will loosen and you will get used to them.
1. they arent that painful at all. ive had mine for a year, the first week u think its gonna b hell. dont worry

2. yes ull get used to them and all the rumors abt clashign braces wen kissing? not really true...unless u guys liek to explore the teeth...which i dun suggest then...
5 or 6 at the WORST times- and those are few and far between.

you'll get used to them! i had braces on and off (more on) from 2nd to 11th grade. my opinion of them changed, but mostly i liked my smile with braces on. i only got made fun of once, too, in the 2nd grade. after that people get more mature lol.

don't worry about it. if you don't make a big deal about your braces, neither will anyone else.
dont let the system change you!!
They are painful at first, but you won't even feel them after a few days. You'll be so much happier once you've gone through it and you have an even lovelier smile.
You'll get used to them.when you get them removed, then you will have to used to being without them..AND no overbite....it will be worth it...
if it's only for an overbite and the overbit isn't that bad then you could just not get them. I still believe that it is a money making scheme and not everyone that gets braces needs them. Only get them if you want them is my opinion, because if you really dont' want them then they are going to be hell
You will get used to them fairly soon, don't worry too much. From http://aches.in/dentalbraces.html...
Both, they will hurt when ever you have to go back for them to be tightened. Pain depends on how much they tighten and how well you take pain :)

Both, you will get use to them but you will be called names and picked on for a little while. If you play sports be careful, I had my lip busted and stuck to my braces to where I had to pull the skin loose more than once.

BUY LOTS OF DENTAL WAX.
soup is for when your mouth hurts soooo bad you don't want to even chew
1. I would rate them 10.. more when they are getting adjustments.

2. Well if you can take a lot of pain then you should be fine but you'll get used to them once you've had them 6 months or a year .. you have to remember that its important to brush your teeth even more frequently as your teeth can rot out from behind your braces in a process very similar to when you get a regular cavity, but even worse than that.

Avoid eating corn-on-the-cob because you might be in too much pain. You might find corn better suited if you peel it off the cob with a knife.

Avoid hard foods for the first few weeks or months until you can handle the pain reasonably.

Generally, NO, your life will not be made more miserable from having braces on your teeth unless you are one who doesn't take care of them regularly now, you likely won't with braces.

You just need to take more care of your teeth with braces the same manner as you would if you did not have them.

Whether or not your having braces was worth it will greatly depend on the person and their friends and family opinion. For me, my family thought my teeth turned out great. I don't think it was worth it at all and see no change.

The braces and pain are a hassle but you will find a way to get through. The real work is in wearing your retainers 24/7 (or whatever your ortho recommends) -metal or invisible- when you get done having braces altogether. That takes effort and for the most part will last the rest of your life... if you don't do it then you risk having your teeth go back to the way they were BEFORE you had braces, then you might have to have it done all over again.
Hey there,
Um I wore braces for 7 years because of an over bite, to prevent TMJ as an adult. Well I did get use to them at first a major pain in the butt but after six months I forgot they were there. Pain wise there sore for a day or so. What really suxed was the extra bands they tried to get me to wear on the braces they hurt and were a pain to take in and out. I never wore them and is prolly why they left them on for so long. But am 29 now and have lovely teeth and very little jaw pain.

Good Luck!
peace & love

I had a severe over bite and they put a device in my mouth with the braces, I can't think of what it was called. Mine i was in a lot of pain for about a month. Of course I had that piece in my mouth to push my lower jaw out to. I could not eat because every time i bite down I would have shard pain. I lived on cold soup and banana milk shakes. I would recommend Advil it helped me more then any thing and the dentist recommended them. But they told me some people don't have any pain so it depends on the person. My braces they said would be on for 4 years and mine wasn't on but a year and a half so i think they was rushing mine lol. Good luck let me know what happens.
You will have some discomfort at first until your mouth gets adjusted. Using wax and if needed at first a pain reliever will help. Once your mouth gets use to them it is a breeze. You will have some discomfort for a day or so every time you get them tightened. I lived through them twice, you will be fine.
I just got mine on two days ago and I have to say it's very irritating. As long as I put dental wax on it's a 3, but without it's a 7 for sure. I am hoping I get used to them quickly. Good luck and I think it will be worth it in the end.
the first day and the day after that 8

you will get used to them eat ice cream and soup
on a scale of 1-10 mine was a 10 or more, hope your ready to lose weight

you might get more info on the invisaline (not sure on spelling) it does the same but is not attached it's a mouth piece
