Answers:
Yowch! I know that wasn't any fun.

My dentist took two out from one side, then the other two out on the other side 10 days later, not all four at once. After the first two were out, I had major swelling, couldn't eat, drink, rinse, anything. I went back to my dentist and apparently while my cheek was still under the anesthesia, I chewed on the inside of my cheek, causing a sore and infection, which caused the swelling...the pain came several days later because the trauma was so bad the "shock" of it was delayed. Just place some warm salt water in the area, don't try to swish, just let it lie there for as long as you can stand it - for up to a minute if possible, then just open your mouth and let it drain out...do not spit, this will create a suction and draw more blood and could create a dry socket (which is why the warning not to smoke after dental procedures).

Laying on an ice pack or iced towel on affected side for 15 mins on, 15 mins off. (Take two hand towels, soak and put them in plastic bags, put in freezer. After frozen, take 1 towel in bag out, wrap in dry towel, lie down on it or gently place it on jaw. After 15 minutes, remove, place towel/bag back in freezer; 15 minutes later get other towel/bag and repeat the process. Repeat this for about an hour). After an hour, wait another hour then try again. While you are using one towel/bag, the other is refreezing, so you won't be without one.

Hope you feel better soon!
Call your doctor & ask for clorhexadine gluconate (Peridex) which is a prescription strength antibacterial rinse. It doesn't exactly taste wonderful either but salt water makes me sick too & I can handle the Peridex
You should put ice packs on your jaw to help with the swelling. If you can't stand the salt water, just use warm water. You will feel more like yourself in another week.
rinse with an antiseptic
don't smoke
don't drink out of a straw
don't eat spicy or hot foods
don't get over heated

if you do smoke or drank out of a straw, you may have a dry socked. it is very painful and you would need to go back to your dentist. they would pack it with some stuff called rat hair. it is not really rat hair that is just want it looks like. but the fibers have a very strong antiseptic on it. it really helped me.
I would just deal with it for another day or two and wait for it to go away. As long as there is no pain.
You need to keep your mouth clean and clear of bacteria, so don't stop cleaning your mouth, you don't want an infection. Its an experience you totally want to live without. A very diluted Listerine type product will help with the breath odor. But, the salt water will help with infection, help with the soreness of the gums. But keep rinsing your mouth, keep it clean.
Try just sloshing the salt water around gently in your mouth. Don't let it go in your throat. Push your tongue back to hold the liquid in your mouth. The more you do it, the easier it gets! I have the same gag reflex!
like put ice in ur mouth and put it in ur cheeks
