For the pain try taking a paracetamol once every 10 hours - depending on how old you are.
Braces do hurt to begin with.
Eat very soft foods, mash potato, yoghuts, noodles, rice etc.
Don't have ice pops, unless you suck them, no chocolate, crisps, etc.
The swelling should go down by itself within the next few days.
Try putting bonjela on your gums, or anything that soothes mouth ulsers.
If the braces are still causing pain and discomfort you need to phone your orthodontist and ask what he/she suggests, they may even tell you to come back and see them, coz they might of put them on too tightly by accident.
Leave it another 4 days and see what happens.
asprin might help get rid of the pain
I recommend using a rotary/rechargeable type brush for braces. You have to make sure you are aiming the bristles into the gums. You move the brush 3 different times in the front of the teeth. below or above the bracket, and over the bracket itself. You also need to brush the inside portion next to the tongue and palate and then also on the chewing surface. You are moving the brush in several different areas. Oral B Braun is my favorite type of electric brush. They even have a special head for ortho and another that is pointed. Check it out. If your gums bleed just keeping doing it, they need the attention. The plaque will build up around the gumline especially if your bracket sits low on the tooth. Sometimes people just have a reaction to the metals and it keeps your gums puffy. Just keep them very clean.
That is normal but if it continues or you are worried contact your dentist/ortho. Using salt water rinse can help in the meantime.
get that stuff liek at cvs where it numbs your mouth and suck on ice
