Can too much candy/sugar give you a raw/sore tongue?

Question:
I went to camp a week ago and ate a lot of candy I brought along and I usually don't eat any candy. I mean A LOT of candy. Is this the reason for my tongue being sensitive to foods now a week later?

Answers:
Well there are two ways that this could happen. It might just be possible that sucking on the candy too much has been scraping your tongue and it is now irritated (this has happened to me, even by just sucking on a lollipop). The only other explanation involving sweets would be if your tongue has a yeast infection (called thrush). This condition can worsen by eating and drinking sugary items. But your tongue would most likely have a white coated look. Give it a few days, if it doesn't get any better (or gets worse) I would recommend visiting your dentist.
that may happen if your tongue got too much stuck on it after not cleaning it properly after eating all that junk
Yes.

Especially sour candy. If your tongue is not used to you sucking on acid foods, it can cause a real problem later on.

It will clear itself up.

Also.. have you heard of your taste buds getting used to foods? If you continue to eat candy, it might start craving more.

stop while you can!
