What to do to help daughter with braces?

Question:
My 10 yr old daughter is getting braces tommrrow and i am not sure what to expect or what i can do to help ease any pain. If anyone has any good suggestions please give me some feed back she has a very low pain tolerance but the braces are badly needed. Any advice would be great thank you ahead of time.

Remind her that the process of getting them on won't hurt at all, it is afterwards (mainly that night and the morning after) that she will be sore. If she takes a pain reliever like Tylenol whenever she feels sore that will help. Also, cold foods like ice cream or cold drinks help ease soreness too. Make sure she eats soft foods like yogurt and pudding for the next couple of days, because chewing with the braced teeth hurts. All in all, it's not that bad, and remind her of that.
My 13 (at the time) year old son got braces 2 years ago and is getting out of them very soon. My middle daughter also had them. It isn't as painful as you expect and kids have a good tolerance for it. The key in our case was making sure that he was doing everything to keep his teeth and gums clean. If you don't do that, the braces can leave scarring on their teeth that can be noticed. We finallly just made the decision to take him in every other monrth for a professional cleaning and that helped a lot. Good luck to your daughter, it will be worth it in the long run.
I got braces when I was ten too, so I know very very well how she feels. First, (this is pretty obvious but anyway) just try to comfort her. You know, say it's all right, it's going to be all right, that kind of thing. And, after your daughter gets her braces on, if it hurts, she could use an OTC medicine ( i like advil) that you could find pretty much anywhere. Her mouth will be sore for about a week after her braces get put in. The first week can be pretty hard, but after that she will hardly notice them. Well, I hope I could help! Good luck!
After she gets them on give her advil or a pain reliever because it will hurt. Basically, it'll be difficult to eat and it will be painful for the first few days. Give her over the counter pain medication and make sure you soft foods. Jello, icecream, soups, pastas, puddings...anything she doesn't have to chew. After day 7 or 8 it should get a little better so give her something soft to ease her way into harder foods such has soft boneless chicken breasts
I am 12. I got my braces 2 months ago. I found that you should put a tablespoon of iodized salt and put in hot water. It melts the salt. slush around in ur mouth for 2 minutes and spit out. Also, ibuprofen didn't work for me, try aspirin instead.
The first month she has braces, it won't hurt at alll. Just the next month, tell her to take some advil. It really helps. good luck
