How bad are separators suppose to hurt?

Question:
does it feel worst when you get the braces can u eat anything?cause it hurts and i get my braces next week

Answers:
when i got mine they didn't hurt at all. It just felt like i had a peice of meat stuck in my teeth. Sorry if that sounds a little gross
Separators are a little uncomfortable for the first few hours, like you have something stuck in your teeth, but after that you don't feel a thing. By the time you get your braces you shouldn't be able to feel the separators at all. Normally you can eat anything w/ separators on except sticky foods. However, separators hurt more for some people than others. If they hurt to the point where Tylenol doesn't sooth the pain then you may want to talk to your orthodontist about the separators.
well i had to get separators for a week and for that week my teeth were really sore, but after that they gave me a new set of separators for 6 weeks while my retainer was being created. and my teeth got used to them.
yes you can eat, just stay away for foods like: gum, taffy, sticky candies, and i found some crunchy foods difficult to eat. and my mom gave me a pain killer when i 1st got them and it did help. good luck!
