Do braces hurt when they first put them on?

I got my braces on about a month ago, and it didnt hurt as soon as they put them on. It just fealt weird, after about 3 or 4 hours they really started to hurt. I was told that u can take pain relievers before u go in but i didnt do that, if i had it would have been worn off once the pain came. I just rubbed ice on my gums and waited it out. The pain lasted for about 2 more days, and on the 3rd day it was much better. You just have to do things to take ur mind off if it, like go to the mall and stuff. Well thats all i know, hope this helped.
not to bad although its hard to eat anything for a day...but it depends on how much they pull on your teeth

Nope, Not right away!! But after that night when you wake up the next morning they will hurt to move, but like the other girl said, just do some things to take your mind off it. (Eating Soup always works too! :D)
It really depends on how crooked your teeth are when you start. If they are very bad it will hurt more, if they are not too bad then the pain will not be as bad. I would suggest that you buy some soup. Fruit smoothies are awesome too.
no not right when u get them on but a few hrs after they hurt! I recommend taking pain releivers BEFORE u go to get them on and then just keep takin them! it will also hurt to eat when u get them tightned so take pain relevers before each visit!
no but you cant eat solid food for a couple of days. you should eat ice cream, Popsicles, mash potatoes, and macaroni and cheese.

When I went to the dentist i thought o jeez this is gonna hurt, but it was actually really easy. A couple hours afterward the your teeth start to kinda hurt. You can take a pain reliever if u want to but i didnt. You'll be fine
