I'm interested int the dental hygiene program at cypress college, Do you have to work on cadavers?
No - some removal is necessary or the sealant will not stick!but anesthetic is probably not necessary with a very small cavity - the dentist can do what is referred to as a fissurectomy (just a tiny little bit of removal of the decayed portion of the tooth) & then place a small filling. He can then place a sealant over the whole tooth to prevent any other areas from decay.
hi there ,if the cavity is clean without any decay or bacteria then it is advisable to place sealent from preventing further decay.but if you are not sure ,then you are not helping yourself instead undermining caries can happen symptomless destroying three quaters of tooth which will ultimately end with the infection in the nerve itself..my suggestion to you is to seek a dentist asap or keeping the site clean until you find one.hope this piece of information is useful to you.cheers
Can a swallowed tooth cause injury?
That will not stop the decay from getting bigger! You will have to have the decay cleaned out and then depending on the size you could then put a sealant or a small filling back in the tooth.
