Answers:
I've never heard of stress causing a toothache, but stress CAN cause you to grind your teeth which can cause tooth aches.
Hi! I have lots of patients that have tooth pain from grinding and clenching. I do too! What I do is have a custom made night quard made so they can sleep and not clench or grind and cause all sorts of gum, tooth or facial, neck pain or headaches. Stress and tooth chenching are a servious bad combination. The mouth guards are not uncomfortable and you wear it on the lowermouth at night. The go in and out pretty easily and just remember to rinse or brush the guard to keep it in good condition.
Ask you dentist to check you bite and make sure it is not off. Also talk to him abuot relaxing techniques so you can stop clenching so much. Suring the day try to identify your triggers that make you clench. That will also help. If you have any other questions, please ask. Marie
I have been there. Biting and grinding teeth when asleep resulted in toothache -- sometime on one side and sometime on the other. The dentist made a bite plate for me for the lower teeth (no need for lower and upper teeth). Yes, stress was the cause of my grinding teeth. The bite plate helped and I was able to store it away once I learnt to cope with the stress. Your dentist would no doubt sort your tooth pain but you need to learn to manage stress -- I found, much too late, that stress seriously damaged my immune system that cannot be fixed. Worse still, I discovered, on my own, that there is nothing in this whole universe that is worth the stress we impose on ourselves. Rather, I will take it as it comes.
I hope you get rid of the toothache and, even more importantly, stress!
You are clenching or grinding your teeth when you sleep and yes stress can cause this. This will make your teeth very sensitive and it can make your the joints in your jaw hurt as well which can cause you to not be able to open your mouth very wide. You need to have your dentist make you a night guard to sleep in so you are not grinding on your teeth. I wear a night guard too and it helps out alot. I hope that you feel better soon. I know how uncomfortable that is.
try heat on your jaws and neck, and advil,
sounds like you might have tmj/tmd
if you still have your wisdom teeth might be that.
see what your dentist say first, but if they want to do alot of filing down of your teeth and so on just don't do anything with careful consideration
