I grind my teeth,and have a nightgaurd but I hate it.now what?

Question:

I just can't get used to the nightgaurd my dentist gave me.I can't sleep with that thing in my mouth,is there another procedeure that will cure grinding at night?

hi sorry to say nothing else can be done really the idea of a nightguard is so that you grind through the plastic rather than grinding down your teeth. If you dont want to wear you will wear your teeth right down,....eventually.

I had a mouthguard that only covered my front teeth, and that was annoying. I went back and got a mouthguard that covered all of my top teeth, and that seems a little better. I sympathize.

If you cant manage with a normal mouth guard ask your dentist about a Sussex retainer. Its clear and thicker than normal retainers. They are alot lower profile so you might be able to cope with it better.
Next step after this would be to consider mild sedatives to break the bruxism.Speak to your dentist to advised you further.
