I am in a bind, need a dentist, no insurance, what do I do?

Question:
My tooth is killing me. Its the one right in front of another that a dentist was drilling a year ago and he told me he chipped my tooth. Now that tooth cracked wide open and it is killing me. I hate dentists, but I just had a baby not too long ago and I haven't gone back to work. I have no insurance. How do I search for a dentist when i am strapped for cash? I'm not broke, but I have little money to work with here. Surely not enough for major work, but they just cann't pull this tooth. Are there discount dentists? *help*

Answers:
You might look for a local dental school as they charge considerably less for treatment and the students are well trained and supervised. Or, ask someone you know for a recommendation or call offices and inquire if they will work with a payment plan.

Also, look at this link to the American Dental Association website that discusses finances and "Care Credit" which they endorse.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Is there like a community health center? Here where I live, there's a community health center and there's also a dentist in the same building, and they only charge according to your income and such; they will work with you when it comes to payments.
Where I used to live there was a community college with dentistry as a major. Try and call the community colleges in your area and have a student work on them. If you do find this to be a possiblity...don't worry they are watched very closely by the Teachers.
I am not sure how serious your condition is but I would suggest going to a pharmacy and having a pharmacist recommend something over the counter.
Not sure of discount dentists but some dental clinics offer instalment plans. If I were you I would call some clinics and find out available options.
