Shouldn't the colgate simply white toothpaste have the FDA approved label on it?

You're looking for the ADA seal (american dental association), and they don't care about the whitening toothpastes, they care about the ones that fight gingivitis & tartar, like Colgate Total & Crest ProHealth, etc. If they whiten as well, great. But just the whitening, and the ADA isn't gonna put their seal on it. I asked my dentist cuz my gums were starting to bleed a little, so he told me to look for the seal cuz of the gingivitis thing. OH - and never buy toothpastes @ dollar stores - most are imported from Africa or Korea or Mars or Deep Space Nine, outside of the FDA's reach so they can literally put whatever they want into the paste, like lead, etc. I saw that one on our local news.scary...
