Answers:
They will probably give you vicodin, which will make you tired. Also, it is very important that you take those kinds of pills with food in your stomach, which is not always easy when you can barely eat anything solid the first few days. Try your best though with Mashed Potatoes, yogurt, applesauce, ice cream, etc...I remember throwing up after taking pain pills, which I believe contributed to my getting "dry sockets" which essentially meant I had to go back to the dentist to get my tooth socket stuffed with dressing every other day for a week...Sorry I don't mean to scare you--I just want to be sure that what happened to me doesn't happen to you. Key point: Take food with your pain pills. Also, I am pretty sure that after you have your surgery you will not feel like staying up or going out if you have lots of swelling (most people do). Good luck and take care.
First: If you want to stay awake during the procedure make sure your oral surgeon knows that, this way they'll just numb and heavily sedate you rather than knock you totally out.
Second: The medication they give you for afterwards will most likely be a very strong pain killer, such as loritab. They'll probably make you very drowsy the first time you take them, but the more you take them, the less drowsiness they'll cause. Also, make sure you eat something before taking them or you'll become very sick to your stomach. Hope this helps. Good Luck! :-)
Ok your dentist will give u pain killers for your mouth tomorrow.. They gave me some when i got mine pulled out BUT it didnt work. It still hurt. So what I did is I froze my mouth with ice. Put it outside your cheeks and it will reduce the pain... Eat ice cream it will help the pain! Trust me, thats what I did when i got mine pulled out... goodluck
I preferred to be in a zombie state for a few days.

You might consider it, depending on the extent of your surgery. Technique has improved greatly since I had mine out -- swelling and pain problems are greatly limited. Talk with the Doc, express your concerns. That's one of their jobs, and they want you to be a happy camper or they wouldn't be in the business. Miserable patients do not make for good referrals or returning customers.

Good luck, and just go through it. It's the last real universal "coming of age" ceremony our culture has.
I had 3 of mine cut out, he put me asleep though, I don't know what kind of pills he will give you. Usually it depends on how the surgery goes, and who does the surgery. I was given atleast 2 different types of pills because of my other meds would probally intervere. The way I remember that day is, I kept going in and out with the needle he gave me. Kinda like a feeling of "Ants in the pants" lol. But after that I was sick to my stomach and I didn't eat eat anything after dinner, skipped breakfast, and i was out the whole rest of the day due to the meds I was on he put me on during the whole surgery. I was also chocking up on the blood from it, sorry for the grusome thought. But completely after a few days the doctor should atleast tell you to eat on one side, mostly soft foods and no soft drinks period.
