Can I start my rubber bands early on my braces?

Question:
I have an underbite and it bugs the heck out of me. I'm not supposed to start rubber bands for a couple months. Should I go ahead and buy some rubber bands online and start using them to correct the bite? My teeth are not sore or moving and my appointments are 6 weeks apart.I want to get this underbite gone!!

Answers:
no you have to wait so they can show you were to put the rubber bands on your braces.
i believe its best if you wait. let the professionals do their job. i have braces too and i also cant wait till the next appointment . i want it to be over and done with but it takes time and we have waited this far, a couple of months wont hurt. so i do think its better if you wait. good luck
your orthodontist will advise you when you should start your rubber bands...do not listen to what anyone on here has to say regarding this issue...your orthodontist has a planned treatment, especially for you and will know when is the right time for you start using the bands
I think you should wait for your dentist's instruction, putting the rubber bands should only be in the last few months of wearing your braces, they usually make your teeth properly aligned horizontally first before aligning the top row with bottom row. just be patient! doing what you're not supposed to might do more harm than good (the last time i didn't follow my dentist's instructions he added one more month to my braces wearing period >.<)
You could cause some damage if you don't wait for your orthodontist to tell you to do so. Also, I think the orthodontist will have to put in hooks on/near certain teeth/wires for you to be able to use the rubber bands. If you somehow hooked the rubber bands on the wrong way (as you wouldn't have those hooks on your braces yet, so you would certainly put them on incorrectly), you could cause a lot of damage. Also, your orthodontist may give you headgear instead.
