My tongue does this too if I brush my teeth just before bed. I never understood why, I just avoid that pattern. I brush my teeth a few hours before bed and drink a bunch of water after.
I also get it anytime my nose is plugged and I have to breath through my mouth only all night while sleeping. It's like my tongue is releasing some kind of coating to keep from getting dried out from my mouth being open.
Perhaps you have just recently started sleeping with your mouth open?? Or maybe the air is particularly dry compared to normal right now?
Possibly it is thickened saliva. Especially if you have been sleep with your mouth open.
You might want to take a sample to your doctor.
could you have aids?
ummm ya got to brush your toung everytime ya brush yer teeth lol until the white stuff goes
plaque build up
Can be because of throat or stomach infection.
Ask your partner may be he's slipping one in whilst your asleep.
It's bacteria in your mouth from mouth breathing while you're sleeping.
It is most likely mucus or thick spit. I wake from time to time with that on my tongue as well its nothing to worry about really. See since your throat and nose are connected it is quite possible that your sinuses, while draining down your throat as they normally do, deposited small amounts of mucus in your mouth. That's the best I can answer you :). I am not 100% on this though only my theory.
