Can a flouride rinse reverse an existing cavity and remove the need of a filling?
Question:
Answers:
No. I have been in dentistry for over 25 years and a cavity is a bacterial infection that eats away at the tooth. It has to be removed and a filling to replace the infected area and keep it from additional decay and nerve damage. Once the protective layer (enamel) of the tooth is destroyed by decay, the layer under neath is vulnerable to decay for life if not protected by a dental filling that seals it from further damage and more bacteria. Get the filling and use the fluoride rinse to prevent further cavities. Remember the only way to keep your teeth healthy for life is brush, floss and rinse. If you have any other questions, please ask. I will help you in any way that I can. Marie.

No.
nope... sorry buddy. Once the decay is there it's not going away!
Hell no. A cavity is a hole in your tooth that exposes the nerve underneath, you need a filling to close the damn tooth back up. Flouride just cleans it out.
To my knowledge fluoride is only used as a preventative. I don't think it can reverse something already there. You might want to try a natural antiseptic - like tea tree oil - you can get it at your local health food store. That works really well. Make sure you dilute it or you can buy a mouthwash with it in already. Also buy some gun at the health food store with xylitol sweetener in it. Xylitol has been shown in studies to strengthen and even regrow tooth enamel and it has a natural antiseptic property. Xylitol is a vegetable sugar.
If a cavity has already formed then the only way to get rid of it is to have the dentist remove the decay and put a filling in the tooth.
