What do the seperators do?

Question:
i have them in now, got them yesterday, and im going in to the orthodotist again in two weeks to get the braces put in. what do they do?

Answers:
it makes a small space between your back teeth to put a metal ring around your tooth. thats where the wire attaches in the back. make sense?
good luck with braces, make sure to take plenty of advil or ibuprofen before you go to the dentist, and after. you'll be quite sore.
they move you teeth enough so the bands that go around your teeth can fit in the gaps.
SEPARATE..
they help your teeth stay straight while you have on braces because your jaw and teeth could shift if there was a gap so thats probably y, i had separators too and he took em out when i got the braces off
Separators create a small space between your 1st and 2nd molar and between your 2nd bicupid and 1st molar. This small space enables the Orthodontist to place bands around the 1st molar teeth.
i have had seperators in my teeth. they just make space in betweem your teeth. some teeth are so close to eachother that you need seperators.
by the way..
they are really called spacers.
hope i helped.
Well, it's really quite simple. They separate your teeth! Wherever your separators are (your molars I'm guessing) they will push apart those teeth to make more room for the bands to fit in. (which will probably be done at your next ortho visit) The bands will slide on your teeth more easily if there is more space, so don't mess with your separators and you';; be fine. Very minimal pain from separators!

Hope this helps!
