Do dentists have an evil trick?

Butchers and mutilators? I've never heard anyone describe a dentist this way before. Hmmmm.
Allow me to explain why a dentist pokes/picks at a cavity (and allow me to add that if you've had a cavity in the same area for years, it's not the dentists fault that touching it is causing you pain). It's to attempt to measure the depth of the cavity. When bacteria/acid eats away at tooth enamel, you are left with dentin being exposed. This dentin is softer, so when a dentist uses an explorer to "feel" it, it permits him to measure the depth of the hole. The deeper the hole/cavity, the closer the cavity is to the pulp/heart of the tooth...which will cause you discomfort.
Perhaps the cavity is causing you pain a week later because it needs to be filled? Just a guess. :) Also, dentists wouldn't have an income at all, if people had perfect teeth, no cavities and no problems at all. If you don't like dentists, don't go. It's a choice you know...not a requirement.
yup
yeah i get wat u sayin. that happened 2 me just the other day.
YES! I have had so many bad experiences with dentists!! So many stories! Like time I fell and had some teeth broken a tiny bit. They kept changing and chaning my apointment. Then they said that I had developed a cavity and did a nasty nasty job with that silver thing. The next denstist tried to fix it but he said he believe there was no cavity there. Another dentist made me go to his office 3 times suposedly I had a cavity and it makes no sence. I had to pay a bunch of money to him, I dont eat much candy and brush my teeth a lot. Plus I dont see a thing so I dont know what he suposedly did. My new dentist REFUSED to whiten my teeth. I jst hate them!
Brush your teeth more you wont get cavities then mate!
