Answers:
Ahhh yes, braces. I had the same problem right before I got my braces, the spacers felt like there were little peices of steak stuck in between my teeth. When you get your braces on, the process doesn't hurt at all, however your teeth and gums are very sore for the first few days--I suggest taking ibuprofen and gargling salt water. Drinking warm liquids seems to help and you HAVE to eat really soft foods for about the first week--not fun, but definately worth it in the end.
they will hurt every time they are tightened, but just use asprin and in 1-2 days the pain goes away until next visit!
The braces will hurt right when you get them on. thats because they are just starting to move. later on it will stop hurting. and the same with the spacers! good luck!
Your teeth are probably gonna ache for a few days after they put the braces on. It's just from the teeth moving and being jerked around. Take a couple of tylenol or advil and you will be just fine. After a while the pain will go away and your braces will only bug you when they tighten/adjust them. In that case, repeat the tylenol. Once you have the braces off, you will love your smile so hang in there!
I had spacers in for w full wekk and after 2 days i felt no pain, now i have my braces on and i got them tightened today and i have little pain . Spacers are worse.
The first week is the absolute worst of the entire ordeal. The pain will be tough but a little motrin and salt water and you'll be money. The first month makes your mouth and gums will be adjusted to the brackets. (provided you are getting traditional wire and bracket braces and not invisaline) Either way just adjusting your daily routine for maintanance isn't that bad and it will be over before you know it.
They are sore for awhile b/c they are loose (so they can move) they pain goes away soon, tho. Take some tylenol.
well, yeah. when i got my spacers, they kind of hurt. but that is the pain you will feel when you get braces because when they tighten them, the only reason it is hurting is because the position of your teeth is moving. and just like how your spacers work, they are moving your teeth and thats why its hurting. oh well, dont worry about the pain. you wont feel it whe nthey put the braces on. but you'll feel it when you get home. rip off hm?
Yes unfortunately it is painful when you first get the braces. And you probably wont be able to eat normally the first few days, but don't worry things get better. You should try getting the over the counter medicine orajel which helps with the pain. So good luck and tremember that it will be worth it in the end.
i got braces last yearin october. i need them for 2 years. i was worried. but. then i was like there is nothing to worry about. they will. hurt. sometimes it doesn't. the pain of the spacers will go away too. dont worry.
They will probably hurt right after you get them. You will have to get hem tightened once a month and hey hurt after that for a couple of days. Take advil when they hurt. It has been years since I had braces, but this is what I remember.
I have had braces before and they did not help at all. My mouth was sore when they would adjust them approximately once a month.. I would have to eat soft things after my adjustments because I could not bite down without pain. It took a few days for the pain to finally go away. Hope things go well
having braces really hurts, specially after your weekly adjustments. you'll get use to it, and the good thing is it will make you slimmer (cause you can't eat hehehe)
but if you can't really bear the pain and you really really love to have braces, try to lengthen the rehabilitation of your teeth , instead of having braces for 2 years, extend it to 3 so each weekly adjustment would not be that painful. also try to use the self-ligating brackets. ::)
the spacers are to make room for the brackets, so once you are used to those, the pain will go away. braces will hurt for about a week or so, but then it will stop. when it starts to hurt, just take some Tylenol, or something, and try to get your mind off of it. you could listen to music or watch T.V., that's what i did. and the thing about eating right after you get your braces on, eat something that is easy to eat, like yogurt.
Well, after you've gone through the pain of the spacers (ouch!), the braces probably won't seem as much so don't freak out
Also, every time your braces are tightened, it will hurt (sometimes for as much as 3-4 days) but after that you hardly notice them unless they are poking your gums (like mine are!) If they are poking, just ask your orthodontist for some wax to stick on the wires. It really helps!
You will have discomfort after you get your braces like when you got your spacers. Also every time when you go back and get it tightened. The discomfort is from the shift of your teeth. It will go away for about a week or two.
dont worry you will be fine.
