Gum line raised... safe? How much? Pain?

Question:
My smile isn't terribly "gummy" but there is some unevenness to my tooth height that I think would look better if some of the gum line were raised a bit.

Could anyone tell me how this is done? (Is it with a laser?) How much recovery time is involved for, say, 3 or 4 teeth? Also, about how much does this cost?

Answers:
Usually you try to do this with a flap procedure. If that won't work then a transplant can be done. You must not be a smoker. Cost is relatively low. A laser could be involved, or not. Stitches are involved, no big deal. A medicated pack is put over it and sometimes that needs changing until it is healed. The gingiva heals rapidly due to its good blood supply. Pain is minimal unless the pack comes off too soon. At least you have some idea about this now in a general way.
Is it noticeable when you look at yourself close up? If not, I don't think it is really worth going through what you need. This procedure usually requires you to see a periodontist(gum specialist), they basically cut away the excess gum tissue you want removed.
