I have a condition where my jaw hurts when one tooth in particular gets cold/touches cold water, beer, etc.\

Question:
Any ideas on how to cover the tooth... with something conventional? (im getting the cavity filled in a few days when I fly back to the USA, but I'm in mexico right now and it really sucks not to be able to drink anything cold!) Hmm... Thanks for your responses.

Answers:
gum? ummm orr...like stick some tacky stuff in there, like the stuff you use to put up a poster, lol sry idk best i could think of :P
suck it up and deal with it!

your in Mexico...have a blast!
you have a cavity.
Does it also responde unfavorably to hot as well as cold.might need a root canal.
Can you get to a store like a CVS there and buy toothache medicine. Some you can put right over the cavity and fill with cotton.
Baby teething stuff on the cotton?
Try brushing with sensodyne toothpaste (hopefully you can find that there) and look for teething pain gel for babies. You can put that on the tooth and gum area to numb it until you can get it taken care of.
see if they sell the stuff to cover up a broken filling or a crown. Usually walgreens sells it. Its a temporary fix for your prob. Get back safely.

OH drink more beer. You will forget about it then ;)
Drink with a straw. It's the only thing to keep fluids off the tooth.

Or use a piece of a cut up tampon and pack it into the cavity using a cotton bud if you can reach the hole easily.
I've heard that if you put vodka on the tooth, it numbs it completely. I've also heard that cloves work, and so does biting on a tea bag.
Don't mind about it too much. Enjoy your stay there at Mexico. Anyway, there are lots of foods that are best served hot!
Maybe gum, wax or a teething cream (Orajel - Brace-Aid)
whatever side of the mouth its on, drink on the other side.
You can try coating the tooth with Vaseline (it creates a waterproof barrier around the tooth). You can also try sugarless gum (chew it, cover tooth). And I guess the obvious is your tongue- but you've probably already tried that!!
Hope you can at least drink enough to feel better...
hi
that particular teeth may be excessively worned one or it may have a cavity which u may not be aware of!
for the time being u can buy some desensitising pastes or mouthwashes which will be available in the local medical shop.u can just keep the stuff 2 to 3 times in the mouth and u may have some temporary relief and get it checked with a dentist soon after u land in your home town.if its a small problem some sedative filling will do or u may need rct later.
