Which is more ideal/better: clear plastic retainer or wire retainer?

i have the clear and they turn yellow if you dont clean them everyday! they smell pretty bad after about a month, you cant see em that well so theyare easier to lose they are bulky and take about two months to settle in your mouth properly so you can talk right. i dont know the advantages because ive never had wire!
I had the clear plastic retainers and I loved them. They are not as bulky feeling in your mouth. You can even talk with them. The best part is people can't really even tell that you are wearing them.

I have a clear invisiline retainer and love it. I clean it twice a day in pepsodent (using cold water, not hot).
I never eat with the retainer--I always remove it when I eat--and after I eat, I brush my teeth and then brush/rinse the retainer. I do the pepsodent soakings twice a day--morning and at night.
I used Efferdent at first, but that took too long--30-45 minutes. Pepsodent works in about 3 minutes. I keep a brush with the Pepsodent and use it to clean the solution out of the recesses of the retainer.
It's just a habit now--if you do this, your retainer will stay bright and clean. No stinkiness. (And my orthodontist said that Efferdent --not the blue-staining kinds--and Pepsodent work just as well as Retainer Brite. It's easier to find Pepsodent & Efferedent anyway.
