Why shouldn't you brush your teeth immediately before applying Crest Whitestrips?

Question:
It says, "it is best if you do not brush your teeth immediately before applying strips" on the directions.

Answers:
Hi! Please follow the directions and I will tell you why. I've been in dentistry for over 25 years, shhhhh, and this is the best way to use the strips. When you brush your teeth, the toothpaste puts a protective material on the tooth. The whitening strips can't work as well because of this. So use the strips, then brush with a fluoride toothpaste to stop any sensitivity. It is very simple concept. If you put a barrier on the tooth first, the strip can not work. BUT after please brush for at least 1 minute or more to help de-sensitize your teeth. You will have a great smile and a wonderful look if you follow directions now that you understand. If you have any other questions, please ask. I will be glad to help you in any way I can. Marie.
