Question:
It is in the same area where I recently had a novocaine shot - about one week ago - so I'm not sure if it's from that or if its an abscress. My dentist is away until Monday. I was able to get her on the phone and described it to her. She thinks its from the novocaine shot, but that was a week ago. She said if its worse tomorrow to see her backup dentist. It's a hard lump that is in the crease inside my mouth where my gum meets my cheek at the bottom of the ride side. It is hard. It is tender to the touch but does not hurt on its own. Thanks so much!

It sounds like your body responding to the trauma from the injection. Abscesses are most often soft due to being fluid filled and often will drain out when pressed exuding a pus. I would watch the area and have it rechecked if it doesn't resolve.

I had that same exact thing, dont worry about it! It very well could be from the shot. Just leave it alone. I know you want to play with it, with your tongue or fingers, but seriously leave it alone! I left mine alone for just one day and it disappeared! So good luck and if it doesnt get better after a couple days after not touching it at all.then contact your dentist again!
