Hi! I'll take that bet. I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. Shhh lol. And no, the jaw is much too strong for you to self mutilate and break it. If that was the case, every person that ever got hit in the jaw with a fist or an accident would have broken jaws and fractured teeth. It takes quite an impact to break or shatter the jaw and it is usually a windshield or metal door of a car. How else would boxers be able to continue to fight when someone slams a 13 oz gloved hand with 250lbs of solid muscle behind it. Think about that.
However, cracking your jaw will cause problems in the future. When you slide your jaw, you are putting it out of a lineament and causing the bone to hit bone. Like cracking your knuckles. At first it is a nervous habit, then you do it all the time. Pushing the fluid that cushions the bone out so you can "crack it" cause a tiny trauma to the bone. Keep this up as an adult you could have serious TMJ problems, muscle spasms and headaches and neck and jaw pain. Even more fun will be Bell's Palsy when you face droops and you drool for a few months because the nerves are stressed. Now it this not convince you 1) you can not break you own jaw, 2) this has serious side effects in the future, then you can keep the 10 points, but I think I made a very convincing argument, so pay up! LOL If you have any other questions, please ask. Marie.
Sounds like TMJ
No it won't cause your jaw to break, but repeat jaw clicking can do a lot of harm to your jaw joints, and their smooth functioning. Go to http://oceansurgical.com.au/ to find out more about oral surgery
