How long does it take to close a tooth gap with braces?

Question:
i barely got braces and there o.k. but they keep cutting my mouth. Now they tell me they need to pull 4 teeth out. 2 on top and 2 bottum. i was wondering how long does it take for braces to close a gap where the tooth was? can anyone help me. im so gonna feel weird walking around school in 3 weeks with gaps in my mouth.

Sigh, I am having the same problem right now. I removed all four teeths today. Since my jaw is wide, my top gaps on the bottom are VERY noticable. I smile with my teeth, never the other way around, so I'm scared that people would keep staring at my huge gap. Worst of all, school starts next week and pictures day in three weeks.

Place some wax on the cuts that are messing up your mouth. This will prevent canker sores that will irriate you more. And also try to sleeping face towards the ceiling, if you don't already.

Yep, it's normally 4 teeths that should be taken out. Two at a time, but I decided to do four at once. Unrelated to this question but to be honest, I was about to run out of the dentist office today. But an hour later, I realized it felt as if nothing happened. The 15+ shots didn't hurt a bit. Lots of blood though, but after 6 hours it ended. Now, I'm back to normal :D Take a few pain killer before the dentist... in case. But you'll be fine, just make sure the gauze blocks the empty space and pressures the blood to stop. Buy more if you're bleeding alot. Safeway, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and other big shops usually have it.

Sorry, back to your question. After you get your teeth pulled out, it straightens really fast. But there will be a gap for a long time, each day it closes up little by little. Two years later, or whenever your braces are taken off, the gap would be closed up.

My plans are just to smile smaller, less, & without my teeth showing. Hopefully... the gap would close half way and would not be noticable anymore and I could return to the way I use to smile. Sounds lame, but unfortunate there isn't any other way :[

I hope everything goes great. Goodluck !
it depends on how fast your teeth shift. usually, teeth are removed from the back, but if they are removed from the front, just dont worry. so many people have been thru the same thing. and trust me, when i got my braces off, it was totally worth it.
about 2 years
It will take many months or at least a few years. From http://aches.in/dentalbraces.html...
Well, I had two teeth pulled out of the bottom of my mouth and it's been almost 5 months and I still have spaces. Spaces aren't as noticable on the bottom as on the top, and if it's in the back no one will even notice. But think about it, I'm sure plenty of people you know have braces, everyone just accepts that things are going to be happening in your mouth, whether its closing gaps or making gaps by pulling teeth. People might notice the gaps for a few days and then it just becomes a part of you and no one notices.
I've noticed that my lips get less cut up if I don't sleep on my stomach because that puts pressure on your mouth. Or you could try the wax!
it will take some time but in the end it will be worth it so just hang in there and it also depends on how big the teeth are and how much pressure your braces are putting on your teeth.
