Mine didn't hurt for very long and I had top and bottom as well. My mouth was tender for about a week but usually asprin or something helped that. Just don't count on chewing anything hard or really sticky during that time (which you're not supposed to do anyway but it seems everyone does).
When you get your braces tightened, your mouth will be tender for a day or so but again, asprin helped.
And anything cold helps! Tell your mom to stock up on icecream...lol.
Overall though, it was totally worth it.
I got fixed braces in 6 weeks ago and the pain went within 7 days but they are ok nowe and sometimes i forget that i still have them
No. braces dont hurt. the only time that it will hurt a little is when you go and they have to tighten them but that is all.
It usually only hurts for a few days after you've gotten them on or get them adjusted. Try not to eat solid foods for a few days because your teeth will be sore. Also take some advil or motrin before you get your braces on to help with the pain.
No, the process for getting them is painless. The worst part about getting braces on is the nasty paste that they put on your teeth. Other than that its pretty simple. Now your teeth might hurt a little bit after the procedure. Just make sure to take some pain relievers after ( or before) thhe procedure. Just eat things like ice cream,soup,noodles, something like that. You have nothing to be worried about.
It won't hurt too much. The only reason it hurt me was after I got them and the inside of my mouth hurt because it was trying to fit around my braces. Just a tip though..do exactly what they say and you won't have them on very long, oh and also see a dentist after you get your braces. Because orthodontists ARE NOT dentists and they won't tell you if you have cavaties or anything else. (This is from personal experience.) Good luck!

Yes, braces hurt. Some of my friends said they could only eat soup-my braces didn't keep me from eating. Think about it logically. Your teeth are being moved from their original positions. That will definately hurt when your braces are first put on & then whenever they tighten them. That pain only lasts a couple of days.
when you first get them they might hurt for a week or so, maybe some irritation... but after that you'll be fine, maybe a little soreness after each tightening. good luck!
Braces hurt.. you're going to want asprin for the first week, even though your orthodontist will probably tell you it only hurts for a few days. For the first week or two, though, it might not hurt unless you bite down, so take asprin or be careful biting down too hard when you eat.

They're gonna be pretty sore for the first week or so. But after that it only hurts when you get them tightened every month..and that pain only lasts a couple days..
Just load up on soup and mashed potatoes for those times and you'll be fine. =)
