Wat are spacers and wat do they do??

Question:
im gettin my spacers in two weeks and i wanna kno y i have to have them and does it hurt wen u get them and can i still eat the good stuff until the braces come??

Answers:
spacers are rubber bands which they push into your teeth and keep them there for about a week they push your teeth different ways so your metal bands can fit in there!
and my spacers hurt so bad becuz there moving your teeth all i ate for 2 or 3 days was soup mash potatoes and ice cream! but expect for the worst when they take the spacers out and the bands in they are thick metal ouch! i have them in right now!! good luck
Spacers are what they are. They make spaces between your teeth so that the braces can work better and go on easier. They just make your teeth a little sore and you have to be careful what you eat because they come out easily.
They do hurt the first two-three days. There little rubber band like things that are put in between teeth. The help space your teeth out before putting in an appliance.
HELPFUL TIP: Use Motrin, Tylenol, or Advil for those days, it will help relieve the pain.
Good luck :)
Hey! hope my advice helps! I have braces n i also have spacers. All that the spaces do is cover up the teeth that cant have braces on them because there not fully grown or may possibly need a fake tooth cover.Glad 2 help!
Spacers are these little rubberband rings that the orthodontist will put between your back teeth. They push your teeth apart so that there will be room for the molar bands that have to go around the molar before you get your braces (they anchor the wire that goes in your brackets that applies the pressure). If spacers are not put in the molar band will not be able to be put on because there will not be enough space between the molars. When spacers are put on they will feel like a big piece of food in between your teeth. A couple of hours later it will hurt to bite down and your mouth will start to ache. You are going to have to eat soft fooods for a couple of days because it will hurt to chew. But after a few days you won't even remeber that they are there. Good luck. I hoped I helped and if you have any additional questions you can e-mail me (go to my profile and you will be able to e-mail).
the actual thing that they use for spacers look like little, but thick, rubberbands. the put them between your molars to create a small space between your teeth. you will be VERY thankful for this when you actually get the ring put around your tooth. they will be a little sore, and a little awkward for about a day or two. at first i thought they were going to fall out, but then i realized that they are really stuck in there. you can eat basically the same stuff as before, but stay away from sticky foods that could pull them out. if you have anymore questions, just ask your orthodontist when you get them put in.
