How long is the average tooth root?

Question:
I had my root canal finished yesterday and the dentist said I had very long roots - 24mm but I can't find out what the average is.

Answers:
In my experience as a dental assisant I've seen very short... 16mm to very long 26mm. Having long roots is not a bad thing. It means that you have a lot of bone surrounding those teeth and if you take care of your teeth and gums that they will be around for a LONG time. Oh.. one bad thing... Long rooted teeth can be extrememly hard to pull.. so take care of them!
