Depending on the teeth you have, for example you might be a person with better teeth than other brace faces then you have a chance that your months of wearing braces will decrease. Which maybe means if you have to wear them for 3 years you end up wearing it for 2 and half. You'll get use to it, time flies.

I would say 1-3 years and your teeth will be fine. but if you care that much about your teeth then waiting really isnt so bad any way.

the time that you have braces on totally depends on how bad your teeth are.. My daughter had braces on for only 1 year, my son's mouth was more of a mess, he had his for 2 1/2 years. I have never heard of anyone having them for over 3 years...
the retainer is worn 24/7 for one year after the braces come off, then it is worn at night for another year..

Everyone is different. My teeth were fine and I had braces on for two years even though they only told me 16 months. Everyone is generally around 2 years.
