Dental Hygienists: Do you sit on your behind all day? I'm look for a career change but I can't stand sitting

Question:
all day long. Besides the fact that it is extremely boring, I am getting FATTER! I need to be somewhat active in my job. Is this the job that I'm looking for?

Answers:
In between patients you will be running your butt off believe me. I used to be an assistant and the stress alone made me feel like I was running a marathon even when I was sitting, not to mention having to sit in an uncomfortable position. If you're looking for something in health where you get to be on your feet all day, try looking into becoming a pharmacy technician. It's not the most active job though. If you want active, look into becoming a nurse.
i've been a dental hygienist for 12 years and not once have i thought that it was boring. i guess it depends on how much you enjoy meeting people and cleaning teeth all day long. talking and getting to know my patients is what keeps me going day to day. i work two to three days a weeks so i guess that helps too. it's possible to be an rdh and be healthy. it's a demanding job both physically and mentally. the money is not to shabby too:) it's a great career!! good luck deciding.
