Why do I keep dreaming my teeth are crumbling?
Question:
Answers:
That's actually one of the most common dreams ever observed, and literally every book on dreams covers it.
Here's an exerpt from dreammoods.com:
"One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in conveying that image. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy.
Another rationalization for these falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety.
Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.
In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.
Traditionally, it was thought that dreaming that you did not have teeth, represent malnutrition which may be applicable to some dreamers.
A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.
In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.
According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.
It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money."
My opinion is that it's just a common habit for people to gnash their teeth during sleep, for whatever reason, and I think this experience translates into your dreams in the way you've described. Usually nervous ticks like that are a sign of tension or anxiety, but I think the dreams are a result of the gnashing, and it's open to interpretation what the gnashing is specifically a result of.
i think youve been eating to many sweeties :-D
soooooooo weird, i often have the dream that my teeth are crumbling out of my mouth until they are all gone...i'd say its anxiety related
That's weird because i have a very similar dream that all my teeth fall out and i have to keep spitting them out and i can taste nothing but blood!! i dont think they have any deep meaning other than maybe a little stress/ worry?
It indicates big changes in your life , you are going through a transition , most probably an internal thing . I had the same experience and the same dreams years ago when my life changed dramatically .
From your other answers, it sounds like this is a more common dream than one would of thought, sort of like how many people dream of flying and that is supposed to mean sex. I have had recurring dreams of my teeth all falling out and I always wondered if this was my proof of reincarnation, that I had been old perhaps at one time and lost all my teeth and couldn't eat much of anything and that could really affect one's health in those olden days. Good luck with your answers.
That is so strange...I ALSO have had re-occuring dreams that my teeth are falling out and I cant seem to get them to stop...It has to have some sort of meaning.

Dreams are metaphorical expressions of or allusions to what is taking place in your "waking" life. . Think of what teeth represent to you. What purpose do they serve? What is their role in the body and in a persons life?
Then think of what "crumbling" represents metaphorically speaking. .... A breaking down of an established structure.
The mouth and teeth are a means for taking in and assimilating life (sustenance) and self nurturing (food). . Teeth are used for "mastication" (chewing and breaking down food). ... No doubt you can think of other associations to make with teeth.
Not being able to breath or suffocating from what is taking place within you is metaphorical as well. .. This process that is taking place in your waking life is having a suffocating effect upon you.
If you are not conscious of or "owning" what is happening in your waking life,.. then your dream will seem all the more strange or unmeaningful to you,.. yet if you seriously consider what is taking place in your waking llife, (both externally and internally),.. then the dream will begin to make sense to you when you consider the metaphorical symbolic expression that appears in the dream.
Consider what are possible ways that you are experiencing a 'breaking down' of old ways of being or ways of taking in life, as you experience your waking life. What changes are taking place in your waking life,.. both that you want and that you do not want,.. and how do you feel about these changes.
This is the kind of thinking that will bring the meaning of this recurring dream more to your conscious awareness.
you rself-concious about yuor appearance!
i know i'm not wrong
