Ok I do hope you will eventually get to the dentist because if you don't you will either lose your tooth, the infection will spread and can cause havic in yoru body, your face will swell up like a balloon and you will have a hard time swallowing. Ok now that I have Mother henned you.
You can go down and buy Orajel or Ambesol to help dull the pain, suck on ice to help dull the pain. Use ice packs to help the swelling go down. Get some Colloidal Silver which is a natural antibiotic to kill the infection. This works by the way. I got rid of my absessed tooth in 2 days with this stuff. It has no taste and you can keep putting it on the tooth. Ask at a natural food store. Then as soon as you can find a dentist that will allow you to make payments. Most will. Most dentists are good about taking emergencies and letting you pay them overtime.
Please do not let this get out of control. I lost one tooth to an absess. It really wasn't my fault since I was pregnant and everytime I got into the dentist chair I would go into prelabor because of the stress so they wouldn't touch me. Colloidal silver was my lifesaver for getting rid of the infection, but also if you have a fracture in your tooth overtime it will become fragile and break off.
The funny thing was my last infection the dentist gave me these really strong antibiotics and told me to take them. Well knowing that they make me deathly ill I headed straight down to the health food store because my brother in law has worked in the hospitals for years where they use it in the bandages in the burn ward so anyhoo, I finally decided to give it a try and bam it worked wonders.
I now use it in our household. It has cured so far in our house- colds, viruses, eye infection, ear infection, bladder infection, kidney infection, urinary tract infection, foot infection, and sinus infection. All these it cured in less that 3 days even when they were bad.
I wish you luck and it is so very important that you get to a dentist as soon as you can to get this fixed. Yes you may be able to get rid of the infection, but they need to get in there and do that root canal and crown it before you get another and it gets nastier each time around and can even kill you if it goes too long. That has been proven.

I like modern medicine on this one. I would go to the drugstore and buy two things. First off is Ambusol or Ora jell. One of these two products will temporarily dull or completely subside the pain locally. This is only temporary but effects are almost immediate. I would suggest one in liquid form so it will coat the whole tooth and soak into the gums and get to the nerves. Also get a pain reliever called IBUPROFEN or something like that. It comes by many brand names like Advil, Motrin, etc. Get the generic stuff it works just as well. I do suggest you get it in extra strength and take the recommended dosage. If the pain still persist and you can't get to the dentist yet you can safely take two at a time at extra strength. Do not take anymore in one dosage. Min. dosage between at least four hours. Aspirin or Tylenol just wont do it for this kind of pain. Ibuprofen is designed to dull the nerves around the centre of the pain. Do not over do it as this is a muscle relaxer as well. You can function but if your on max dosage you don't want to be operating heavy equipment or driving to much. Hope this helps.
First of all, ambesol does NOTHING for a toothache. It mearly numbs the gum tissue around it. You can buy temporary fillings material at the drugstrore, it could relieve some pain by keeping air/food/water out of it. HOWEVER, the pain will continue and then get better.. and get worse and get better unitl you go to the dentist. They will give you some strong antibiotics to kill the infection, and they may be able to just fill it.. you never know, if you wait tooooo long you'll need a root canal... so get in!
