Yes you can wear your retainer, but I would wait a couple of days and let the extraction site heal.
Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and the answer is not until the site has healed. This is for many reasons. The surgical site is raw and exposed to bacteria and irritation. the retainer will make this worse. It will trap bacteria and make the sockets sore and possibly inflamed. So wait until you see the Oral Surgeon and ASK H/Her when to start wearing them again. The are the hands on Experts and this forum is NOT the place to ask for guess work. I do not know it you had impacted or partial impacted teeth, infections or not and how much they flapped the gums to remove the teeth. The wires could cause the sutures to pull out, the gum to pull away and create other issues. PLEASE ask the surgeon and get the exact information from someone that knows YOUR exact situation. Asking us to guess it NOT right and could cause you a major problem in the future. A simple phone call will answer all your questions and the Oral Surgeon or your dentist will know exactly what you should do. Please do this. If you have ANY other questions, please ask and I will try to help you in any way that I can. Marie
