How do I know if a stitch came off my wisdom teeth?

Question:
I had all four my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. I think the stitch came off the bottom left molar because it's gushing blood out right now. What should I do? Is it because the stitch came off? that part of my face is really swollen.

Answers:
Call your dentist.
Put some pressure on it...a piece of gauze wadded up.
Use a heating pad for some pain relief.
call the dentist, or go to the er. drink ICEEEEEEE COLD Water. also look in your mouth
You should really call your dentist.
The blood clot probably broke...just put some gauze in your mouth...you should call the oral surgeon though to make sure that it isn't anything more serious than that...hope i could help!
Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. Please calm down and relax. Bite down on the 2X2 and continue until the bleeding stops. You may to change this 1-2 times. Don't worry this is normal. Apply ICE not heat to your face 20 minutes on and 40 minutes off for at least 4 times. Less swelling less bleeding and pain. Take your meds. Sleep with an extra pillow and do NOT fall asleep with the gauze in your mouth. After 24 hours rinse gently with very salty warm water. GENTLY>and do this no matter what. This will help heal and get the left over blood from your mouth. Eat ice cream and cool, cold foods for the next day or so. DO NOT chew anything. For the next 3-7 days eat bland, easy foods, no pizza, bagels or chewy or sticky. Do not lift anything over 10 pounds for 5 days. relax, watch TV and DO NOT SPIT. Just relax, stay calm and you will be fine, I promise. I have done this longer then you have been alive! IF you have any other questions, please ask, I will help you in any way that I can. Marie.
You should fold up a small piece of gauze and bite down on it until the bleeding stops. As far as the stitch coming out, it should be okay as the stitches usually come out (or dissolve) on their own nowadays.

Your face is swollen because of the pulling and tugging that your dentist had to do yesterday and has more to do with that rather than the stitches that are in your mouth.

If you're can't get it to stop bleeding or if you're in a lot of pain that doesn't go away after you take your pain killers, I would suggest you contact your oral surgeon/dentist.

Good luck and happy healing!
