It depends on how long ago you had the tooth extracted.

If it's been hours you can try the tea bag. If it's only been a few minutes to an hour then stay with the water moistened folded gauze. Make sure to use enough to apply pressure but not so much that you can't bite together gently.

For the tea bag method you need to "moisten the tea bag with water" place it over the extraction site and "bite" together with a "steady pressure" but not so much as to bust the tea bag. You may find that you have to hold this for 30 minutes or even an hour to stop the bleeding. The tea bag has tannic acid which helps promote clotting. Constantly taking it in and out will disrupt the clotting action. Leave it alone and it will aid in the clot formation.

As always, follow all instructions and medications given by your dentist since he is aware of any complications that may have occurred and may have given you different home care advice. Hope I've been of some help and good luck with your healing.
actually i'm getting one tomorrow... i'm REALLY freaked out && i hope it doesn't hurt. but tomorrow i have a plan to just keep on using the gauze pads ((i got them pulled a LOOOONG time ago... and i had to go through a billion pads so don't worry))

if it hurts... use pain killers and call your dentist they'll tell you what to do.
Use thicker gauze pads. Make sure the gauze pads are slightly damp. Not too much, just enough that the gauze won't pull the blood clot off with it when you take it out of your mouth. Place a few damp gauze pads in the place where the tooth used to be, and apply pressure for at least a half an hour and in the mean time, leave it alone. The more you mess with it, the more it will bother it. It needs time to heal
You can expect some bleeding for at least the first day. If it is bleeding heavily you need to put pressure on it with the gauze pads. Just keep changing them and putting pressure on it, even though it will hurt. Also, take Ibuprofen, not Tylenol or Advil. It is an anti-inflammitory and will help with swelling and help stop the bleeding. If you are still bleeding heavily tomorrow call the dental office who performed the extraction
You use gose you idiot.
Well, a few yrs ago, I had 3 wisdom extracted- from an oral surgeon- who just happens to work on alot of the players for an NHL team.I would contact the dentist that pulled the tooth out asap.
