Hi! I have been in dentistry for over 25 years and if you lived near me (NYC in the US) I would be glad to help you for free. However, you can do this.
Contact all your local hospitals and find one with a dental clinic. Most do. Tell them you are in serious pain and they will see you right away. Please don't be so mad about dentists being in love "with the all mighty dollar". We spend over 200K to go to school and to set up a practice is well over another 100 thousand. We don't want to screw anyone, but our expenses for assistants, office manager, over head and materials and lab costs are unreal. PLUS we have to pay their health insurance on top of that. So don't be so harsh. We don't make the monies Doctors do, and often we make a lot less then you think. Try to find a dental clinic in a hospital or a dental college near you. They will treat you for free and I VOLUNTEER 2 days a month for free. And a lot of dentists do because we know so many people have little monies and no insurance and believe me, I have done ALOT of free dentistry because of this. AND I AM GOOD! So calm down, make some phone calls and find a dental clinic in a hospital or dental school that will give you great care for free. You do the leg work and find it and you will be pain free in no time. If you have any other questions, please ask. If is NOT our fault employers do NOT carry dental Ins. That is their choice, not ours. So give us some slack. Would you work all week and not expect a full pay check? I doubt it.
I suggest you go to the Salvation Army, if you can demonstrate a financial need, they will help you with the expenses. I have done this myself. Good luck, hope you fell better soon.
Often dental colleges will offer a program for people. They need volunteers since they are trying to teach. Often it is done for free or with very little charge. If you have a dental school near you. I would contact the person over the various departments.
I don't have dental insurance, but have alot of problems, and I'm constantly having to go to the dentist. I use what's called CareCredit. Yes, it's a credit card, but it's specifically for medical use. The dentist, the vet, a doctor's office. The one great thing about it is that I think there is 3 options. I have 12 months, 0% interest for anything over $300. And, in case to get your tooth pulled doesn't cost that much, you can ask the dentist about putting a credit on your account, that's what I did. I think my visit was like $260, and so they charged my card for $300, and just gave me a $40 credit there at their office. I'm not exactly sure if CareCredit is just a Georgia thing or not, but you can check it out. Hope you figure something out, I just recently had to have a tooth pulled for the same reason!
find a dental school in ur area ...they usually do it for free or low cost and i feel ur pain i just put 3000.00 into dental and that didn't include my 1000.00 dental insurance....i also have the care credit thing another person talked about but i have to pay intrest on mine bcuz of how high my costs
go to www.ada.org website. Look up DENTAL COLLEGES in your state. Dental colleges cost MUCH less than private dentists and it is quality care! Call them and visit them. Or go to a doctor to be examined if you have health insurance.
