What is the best method of whitening your teeth without going to a dentist?

Overall I would say that most of my patient's have had some measure of success with the Crest Whitestrips, some more than others so perhaps try those first if you haven't already. Our office uses Crest Supreme which are much stronger than what you can buy in a drugstore and don't cost that much more ($60.00 vs $30.00). You can purchase the drugstore version, but do yourself the favor of using them right after you get your teeth cleaned as any staining and buildup (tartar or plaque) will impede their ability to work. Also, don't use fluoride toothpaste before putting the strips on (same reason). The strips are probably your best low price alternative, much less than in office whitening or custom trays (about $500.00). I am also hearing happy reviews with the Aquafresh whitening trays, unlike the strips they don't have the tendency to slip or move). All of the methods (strips, trays, custom trays, in office whitening) have the potential to make your teeth temporarily sensitive, but will not harm the enamel. You might try to drink dark liquids through a straw and don't smoke. Most whitening toothpastes just remove stain on the surfaces of your teeth and therefore are not so effective. Whatever method you use it will not whiten your teeth for life, as you age your teeth will get darker and may need to be whitened again

Hope that helps!

Use an aftermarket whitener.
Rembrant Tooth paste Daily or the Whiting strips they now sell at walmart or better yet BOTH!
teeth whiteners.
or baking soda on
your toothbrush =)
The whitening strips (crest) work great. They aren't messy like some of the tray and other stuff on the market. Do have to be careful though if you have sensitive teeth. I've used the strips for about 2 years. After the inital week you can keep them white by using the strips about once or twice a month.
This is from my previous post:
ou can use whitening tooth paste, and that works if you have staining on your teeth(read the fine line). If your teeth are stain free and would like to get a whiter shade, here is a little secret I sometime share with my patients if they don't care about the amount of time it will take and doesn't want to spend a lot of money, brush with over the counter hydrogen peroxide. All the in-office or over the counter bleaching products use some form of peroxide which is the active ingredient for bleaching. But stop using it if you start to feel sensitive, wait a few days and start again. Over the counter Crest White stripes doesn't really work with amount of stripes they give you in one pack(even their own sales reps. said so!) The only one that I have seen it work is the White stripes sales by the dental office which is about 4x(I think) stronger than the over the counter products. If you really want to get your teeth white in a short period of time, you should consult with a dental office that provide that service.
CREST WHITE STRIPS.
I got invisalign braces, which means that I need to brush my teeth after -every- thing I eat, because otherwise I can't put my retainer back in. My teeth are so white now, just because of all the cleaning.

Other than that, you can buy over the counter teeth whitening products, or brush with peroxide - but don't bleach your gums else you'll look very strange. I also eat an ungodly amount of strawberries which I've heard can whiten your teeth? Eh. No idea.
Crest Whitestrips work really good.
Listerine whitening pre brush rinse works great for me, and it's very easy to use. No strips! No Trays!
just pour it into your month and tilt you head down and let the liquid rest on you teeth. Rinse and spit, Works Great!
