7. initally they hurt when u get them on but only for about a week. then you get used to them
i Had braces for 2 years. the pain is a 10 without painkillers after you get them put on and after they get tightened. it can go down to a 0 after you get used to them. to lower the pain, take Advil!
dont worry.. its not too bad.
i would say about 6, you can keep the pain off by taking tablets.
its hard to eat at first, but they do get easier within a week.
just eat alot, even though its uncomfortable cos the more you eat the more used to them you get.
and yeh take tablets, either paracetamol or ibruprofen.
good luck :) x
3 when you first get them on they hurt but after that they dont hurt that bad.
after you get them on, they hurt like a 10++++++

but after a week to 2 weeks, they dont' hurt at all.
i got braces and they were the MOST painful of my life!!

when you get them on, they don't hurt at alll...but your mouth feels REALLY tight.

but for next week, your teeth will hurt like HeLL! no lie.
i literally wanted to get them off! i was about ready to yank them off my teeth.
i would've preferred the pain of yanking them off, compared to the pain i was feeling right then with them ON.

i could not eat anything hard because my teeth pained sooooooooo much!!
all i ate for a straight week was:
applesauce
oatmeal
yogurt
soups

not very filling foods...but after about 2 weeks, your fine.
8 they hurt pretty bad
For me it was about an 7 or 8 and that was for the first few days and then I was use to them but they hurt when you go in to get them tightened or changed. Plus my check kept getting hooked on them so I had sore spots. But I am happy that I had them LOVE MY TEETH NOW.
Well my friends say it hurts because at first, it pinches and pokes you top lip. But they said 6-8. It really only hurts when you tighten them. And my friend is getting braces but bring a friend with you it helps you feel a lot better.
The pain is a 6, but thats only at first. And other things such as rubber bands and tigthening are about a 4 1/2. I have braces currently right now. They do at first hurt, but after a few days the pain goes away. I took Advil to make the pain stop. I would also recommend eating soft foods. Such as mashed potatoes. Anything requiring you to chew your food will give you pain. Later on when you get the braces tightened it will hurt, but only for a couple of hours. Also if you have to use rubber bands they will hurt too. At least they can come off, but I would fully recommened wearing them so your mouth can get use to them. Because once you take them out for several weeks at a time your mouth will have to get use to them again. Good luck!
Got mine over a year ago. I have an issue with anybody ever messing with my teeth or mouth so here is my answer.

It wasn't as bad as I thought. It took awhile to get comfortable with them, especially where the rubbing on my lip/cheeks were concerned. WAX my friend, WAX!! It was kinda annoying having your mouth open for so long to apply them and my jaw was sore. They used this heavy plastic thing to keep my mouth open. I wanted to gag!

I was as tense as all get out during that application so that didn't help with the jaw soreness!
It was a pain in the butt. They had me take a pill beforehand that wouldn't allow me to any produce spit so that was pretty weird.
The feeling of braces is ok now, I am a 40 year old woman who survived. The biggest pain in the butt is the wire changes every 4-6 weeks. Not to mention the feeling that I am carrying a snack in my braces everywhere I go which grosses me out completely! Eww gross!

So, on a scale of 1-10, I would say about a 5.5 for me. Just make them hurry up so you can get outta there and go home!

When these dogs come off in another year...I am sure that will be uncomfortable too and I'll have to get used to not having my braces anymore. Snickers bars here I come!
Good luck!

3.

I've never had metal braces, but I wear invisalign retainers. They do hurt when you snap them onto your teeth and I've been known to scream when putting a new one in, but the pain for these at least is over almost instantly. It's tight, but after about 15 mins it doesn't hurt any more. No scrapes or cuts in my mouth either.
when they put everythig on, like brackets and wires, it hurts like a 7. it is kinda painful for the next two days, then its gone. when they tighten the wire, it doesn't hurt that much. i say its like a 1 for like a hour. you just feel that you teeth is starting to move and then the pain is gone.
Depends on your tolerance to pain. Initially, it may be a 10, but as you go along the process of realigning your teeth, the pain subsides until you finally get used to it. As they say, no pain, no gain. You wanna look good, be prepared to suffer.
6 when you first get them on. For about 3 days I could only eat smoothies, yogurt, applesauce. And then I could eat other things, but my braces were still sore for a little more than a week. After that, you barely notice that they are there!

Braces also hurt like a 2 or a 3 when you get them tightened. They feel sort of weird the day or day after you get them tightened.

When you get a powerchain on, it hurts like a 4. Your teeth feel so smooshed together and tingly. Then they feel sort of sore if you bite down on something. Power chains do not hurt when you get the color of the powerchain changed.
I think its about a 6 when you first get them, but then after a few days they don't hurt at all until you go and get them tightened or get a new wire on, then its about a 6.5 or 7, its hard to eat hard foods. If you just take some tylonol or advil, you should be able to deal with the pain, its not that bad.
