Your dentist is going to get after you when you see him for your 6 month routine cleaning and check up. Ask your orthodontist or your dentist for some help with how to do this without so much discomfort.
yeah a lot of the times with braces the gums get kinda swollen like that its pretty normal.. just make sure that you gently pay more attention to them when you brush... and flossing is a good idea although i know i never did
When you have braces .. the Dr. tells you to use special cleaning brushes for the braces ... you should use them,
Ask about them if you wasn't told ...
Even though it hurts, you're going to need to keep your teeth well-brushed and flossed. If you don't, you could wind up with a gum infection, which will be awful. I went easy on the brushing when I had braces, because it hurt. My gums got puffy, and I ended up with a gum infection that killed one of my teeth. It turned a dead gray color and is very noticeable, even though I had my braces removed years ago. Keep brushing and flossing!
gargle with hydrogen peroxide. DO NOT swallow this and rinse the mouth with water after. keep doing this a couple of times a week and it should be OK.
there is a bunch of new mouthwashes that are great, maybe you should try one of them.
