Question:
I have 4 teeth to be removed. I got one tooth removed and I am going to get the second out(Maybe or may not be wisdom tooth). Last time, my dentist said hold the gauze in your mouth, bite on it untill it stops bleeding. It never stopped bleeding because the pressure from the gauze didn't let the healing process to occur...my dentist misleaded me! So I kept replaceing the gauze every 30 minutes for 3 days staright.
So, How many mintues/hours are you supposed to hold the gauze in?
Answers:
Keep on biting on to the gauze for about an hr, then change another one. Make the gauze a little damp. you only need to change it once or twice. if the gauze is too big, jus cut it in half so there wont be as much pressure as last time.
20 mins
for many hours,5-6 hours at least.
I tell my patients 30min and change gauze if neccessary.
When she says an half hour I would do it for a full hour. Sometimes your blood won't clot in the time she would think. She or he is a dentist. But they won't know about blood as much as a doctor. Also when taking it out do it over a sink and keep your mouth open to air it out.
