Do braces hurt ?
Question:
does it hurt when they put them on ?
does it hurt when you eat ?
how long for would it hurt ?
Answers:
Only at first, and when you get them adjusted... even then they'll just ache for a couple of days, but it's not really that bad--promise!
and people also say they YANK them off your teeth after you're done, which is totally untrue...
when they put it on it doesn't hurt. the glue is just super sour and it's hard to swallow with something in your mouth to hold it apart. during the first 2 weeks or so, it hurts when you eat; you get a feeling like your teeth are very loose and will fall out. but of course, they probably won't. after a while you'll get used to them and they won't feel like anything =]]
they hurt for like a well it depends mine NEVER hurt but it hurts for less than a week and you only can't really eat solid foods for a couple days like 2 or 3 but umm yea eat popsicles and pudding and jello -like foods and when they put them on all they do it but cemente on and stick a bracket on that part does NOT hurt
it hurts when they put them on because its tightening your teeth... it hurt for a while when u eat cuz it scrapes your gums. and for like a couple weeks it will hurt.
putting them on nope. same with taking them off. it just preasure. i actually enjoyed it. um ur teeth might be sore but if u clench them withtsuming it won't and u won't be able to eat really hard food for the first two days.
now i got retainers. and i actually miss the braces.
- Yes it'll be hurt a litle.
- Yes, for a while.
- About 1 - 2 days upto a week.
But, the good news is :
- you can ask your dentist to adjust your braces.
- you can ask for ibuprofen or other drugs to reduce and prevent it.
- remember you going to have prettier look after successfull bracing programe.
yes yes alot i cant take it so i threw them
yes after they put them on they will hurt but only a few days then after that they wont really hurt
at first its so-so...
just quite uncomfortable when you tried to eat something for the first week... at worst... its quite hurt when you do anything.
i just say its varied from one person to another.
but most of them says that it will going to be hurt for the the first few weeks!
just hang in there ; )
doesnt hurt at all when they put them on.. just feels mega uncomfortable!
but yes, it does hurt afterwards.. but its mostly just your mouth and cheeks having to get used to there being a load of metal there, not just your teeth moving that makes it hurt... its horrible but it tends to feel as though the inside of your mouth is getting chewed up for a while.. but dont worry.. they'll give you some wax to sort that out!
..you'll have to stick to liquid or soft foods for probably about a week but after that it'll start to not hurt as much when you eat..
but it'll probably take a little while to get used to eating with braces on.. so it'll probably take you longer than everyone else to finish at meals..!
it also hurts for up to a week after each time you get the wire replaced or tightened... but the time it hurts for gets less and less each time you have it done..
but it'll all be worth it in the end - straight teeth! woohoo! hehe
p.s. take some painkillers before you go to get them on.. it'll hurt less afterwards that way!
Well, as many others have said, not that much.
When I got my braces, they were lasered on no it didnt hurt a bit, though my orthordontist strtched my mouth a bit..
For the first few days or so, it does hurt a bit and your mouth will few quite awkard. To avoid having the metal scraping the insides of your cheeks, put some wax on it(which your orthodontist should provide) and this will create a smooth covering over the metal to stop it irritating your cheek. When your wires are tightened, they do hurt for a bit but the pain should usually go away in a day.
Braces arent all thatmuch painul as people make it out to be though. Good luck! x]]

it depends of wat you are correcting. i had an over-bite and a tooth that grew out the wrong way on the bottom of my mouth. after i got mine it wasn't that bad. it's just uncomfortable and the first few adjustments hurt a lot so much you can't eat well. **take tynenol before you get adjusted the first few times. **i lost a lot of weight because of my braces. well it was like that for me because they took out 2 premolars from the top of my mouth. the pain was unbearable till i took about 4 tynenol that eventually knocked me out cold. the braces were put on days later to close up the spaces. wasn't pleasant at all. was on mashed potatoes for weeks.
anyway. its uncomfortable. sometimes you'll find a problem where theres a piece of metal that rubs against ur tongue and hurts you a lot, also there's the thing that happens when the space is being filled and the wire comes out the other end and cuts ur cheeks. nothing unbearable. thats why they give us wax. idk if it'll be like that for you - like i sed it different for everyone. but you know wat, after 2 1/2 yrs it was all worth it. my smile's perfect and i might get them off by next week. so i'm excited about that. also u might even get to bleach ur teeth afterwards which'll leave yur teeth whiter than before. =Ddon't worry about it. you'll be glad you did it. just make sure afterwards u use ur retainers everyday *don't forget* otherwise ur years of discomfort and work will be for nothing! xD
